I'm not really into commercial holidays, which is unfortunately what Valentine's Day has become. You don't need one day out of the year to show the person you love how special you think they are. There's 355 other days in the year for that. To me, a little each day was better than all in one.

I always liked the quiet night in on Valentine's. Maybe cook a special dinner. There was no real point in going out, after all, since everyone else was. That just guaranteed a bad night. Overworked waiters, horrible traffic and parking, tempers flaring... Staying at home was much more stress-free.

Besides, there's a whole lot more you can do when you're not in public.
